The DC team has finally notched a much-needed win in the IPL 2023, and it was an intense battle against the KKR squad. Unfortunately for KKR, they struggled from the get-go, losing three crucial wickets during the powerplay. While Jason Roy gave an impressive performance and managed to score 43 runs in his season debut, he kept losing partners on the other end.

However, the KKR team was able to salvage their situation thanks to some powerful hitting from Dre Russ, which helped them reach a respectable total of 127 runs. In response, DC came out strong with Warner’s explosive start, scoring over 150 in the powerplay. But KKR was not going down without a fight and staged a comeback with some brilliant spells from their spinners. Chakravarthy, Anukul Roy, and Nitish Rana displayed their top-notch skills, taking a combined 6 wickets and giving away just 52 runs in 12 overs.

Despite the setback, DC’s Manish Pandey and Axar Patel held steady, taking the game down to the wire. Ultimately, DC clinched the game in the final over with just 4 balls to spare. Captain David Warner proved to be the star player for DC, scoring an impressive 57 off 41 deliveries.

After three weeks of intense action and six games played, the Capitals have finally registered their first win in IPL 2023. This victory was a much-needed boost for the team and sets the stage for an exciting rest of the season.

Nitish Rana,  Skipper: ”  I think we were 15-20 runs short on a difficult pitch. I take full responsibility for this, I should have stood there instead of throwing my wicket away. Credit to the bowlers that they fought with such a total on board, I think the upcoming games will be good for us if we continue bowling and fighting like this.”

David Warner,  Skipper: ” Finally a win on the board. We scrapped our way to it. We are really proud of the bowling unit to restrict the opposition to a low total. We did exceptionally well to get wickets in the PP. While Batting We lost wickets in clusters but held our nerves in the end and managed to get past the line. We are very honest with each other. We discussed areas to improve upon and we will work on them. Over to Hyderabad now”

Ishant Sharma is the Player of the Match

Ishant Sharma : “I was just waiting for my chance. I wanted to win a game for the team whenever I will get a chance. Depends on what kind of plans you have. Matter of time when you want to execute your plans. There is no lucky charm in the team. We would want to win every game from here on, qualify and hopefully win the tournament.”
