Despite a valiant effort from Jason Roy, who scored a blistering 61 off 26 balls, and Rinku Singh, who remained unbeaten on 53 off 33 balls, KKR were unable to keep up with the asking rate, eventually falling short by a huge margin of 49 runs. This resounding victory is sure to boost CSK’s net run rate and keep their spirits high going forward.
Nitish Rana, Skipper: ” Tough one to digest. It was always going to be difficult chasing a target of 236 especially if you don’t have a good powerplay. Have to give credit to Ajinkya Rahane. But it’s just difficult to digest that we conceded 235 which is huge. We have to work on areas. But if you don’t improve and keep repeating the same mistakes against such a big team, you’ll lose every time.”
MSD, Skipper: ” I will just say thanks for the support to all those who turned up today, they came in big numbers. Most of these guys will be in a KKR jersey next time. They are trying to give me a farewell, so thanks a lot to the crowd. Our pace bowlers are doing their job right, and so are our spinners in the middle. The wicket was short on one side so we needed to get early wickets and keep the pressure on the opposition. They have plenty of power hitters in the order, so we had to give respect to that fact as well. I have a clear funda, if someone is injured he can’t do anything much. You just move on and motivate the youngsters to perform. We have been fortunate that all the guys coming in performs. We realize Ajinkya Rahane’s potential and what he can do when allowed to bat freely.
