GT secured their spot in the playoffs – TATA IPL 2023 Match 62 GT Vs SRH

“Mind-blowing! GT has not only secured their spot in the playoffs but has also etched their name at the very top, no matter what happens in their final league stage showdown. It’s an absolute game-changer!

In a thrilling encounter, SRH struck early, sending Saha back to the pavilion in the very first over. But wait, the real heroes were about to unleash their magic! Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan, oh boy, they showed us what proper cricketing shots are all about. They danced their way around the park, forming an extraordinary partnership of 147 runs that put GT in the driver’s seat. Gill, in a stunning display, notched up his maiden IPL century, while Sudarshan contributed a brilliant 47 off just 36 deliveries. And let’s not forget the magician on the other sideโ€”Bhuvneshwar Kumarโ€”who picked up a sensational five-wicket haul, giving away a mere 30 runs in his magnificent spell.

Chasing a formidable 189 runs was no easy task, especially after SRH failed to capitalize on the powerplay. But guess who came to the rescue? The sensational Mohammad Shami! He once again proved his mettle, wreaking havoc in the powerplay by claiming three crucial wickets. It was like watching a superhero fighting off a whole army! And that’s not allโ€”Mohit Sharma joined the party, unleashing his bag of tricks and snatching four wickets in the middle overs. He completed a clean sweep for the Titans, leaving the opponents gasping for breath.

Amidst the chaos, Klaasen emerged as the lone warrior for SRH, displaying remarkable resilience and smashing his second fifty of the season. Unfortunately, he lacked support from his fellow batters, fighting a lone battle against the mighty Titans. In the end, SRH fell short by 34 runs, becoming the second team to bid farewell to the playoffs race.

Aiden Markram,  Skipper: ” We were in the match at the halfway mark but when you lose 4 wickets in the powerplay, it becomes tough. We were slightly off with our bowling, to be honest. We’ve got high-class bowlers who can swing the ball both ways. Shubman Gill’s innings were amazing and so did their number three Sai Sudarshan. Klaasen is a great player and I’m very pleased for him, the world can see the class and power that he possesses. The rest of us haven’t complimented him. We have to play for pride now. We’ll try to give some opportunities to youngsters.  It’ll be nice to finish off the season in good spirits but unfortunately, we haven’t been good enough in the tournament this year.”

Hardik Pandya,  Skipper: ”  Very proud of the boys, two in two in making it to the playoffs. The boys put their hands up and in challenging situations and we rightly deserve the playoff spot.  We ticked a lot of good boxes as all our departments have fired, we made a lot of errors but we were always there in the game and tried to stay consistent. Bowlers are very close to my heart. Sometimes batters take a lot of credit, for me, I will always be a bowler’s captain and ensure they get due credit they very much deserve.”

Shubman Gill is Player of the Match

Shubman Gill: ”  I made my IPL debut against SRH and got my first hundred against them, so life has come a full circle. Hopefully many more to come and that too this year. It’s all about the bowlers and situation and I don’t dwell much on my last innings. It is important to focus on the situation at hand. The six off Abhishek Sharma was the most pleasing thing for me. I told him that if you bowl to me I’m gonna hit you for a six So it came off and very happy with that.”
